Description
The Emmeline trench closes with a full row of snap buttons and falls to mid-calf in a relaxed A-line. An attached hood with a drawstring handles sudden weather, elasticized cuffs cinch at the wrist, and two large flap pockets carry more than a phone. A gathered seam across the upper back gives the coat its easy swing.
It is built for transitional weather, the weeks when a jacket is not enough and a winter coat is too much. Wear it over a sweater and jeans for the commute, or over a midi dress when the forecast is uncertain. The straight hem and clean silhouette keep it looking considered even when it is doing practical work. The flap pockets are deep enough for gloves and a phone, which matters more than it sounds on a cold platform.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang to dry, and avoid tumble drying, which can shrink the shell and warp the snaps. Close the snaps before washing to protect them. Iron on low if needed, using a cloth between the iron and the fabric. Fit is relaxed with room to layer. The measurements below are approximate and taken flat. The A-line hem also means you can sit down in it comfortably, which is not true of every mid-calf coat.
